New Beginnings

Description

Well here it is, the first few moments of the Grey's new chance at life. At the moment it is still very weak and damaged from crashing its ship in the Alaskan wilderness after being shot down by one of earth's soldiers.

The image on the lower right hand side entails Clarisse reviving and warming the barely-living Grey who'd previously collapsed on her front doorstep in the middle of a serious blizzard. Like I mentioned in an earlier deviation of the alien, Greys are cold-blooded and desperately require heat to survive. To remedy their lack of body heat, Greys wear specialized skin-tight suits that regulate their body temperature regardless of the surrounding climate. This Grey's suit was severely damaged in the crash, however, and it was rendered useless. This, in turn, meant that the Grey had to trek several miles through unfamiliar woodland with no direction and hope for survival through a blistering snowstorm with only the protection of a malfunctioning body suit. The frigid temperatures nearly froze the alien to death as it wandered bruised and bleeding through the wintery hell.

Just as it was about to succumb to both its injuries and the unforgiving weather, it managed to stumble across Clarisse's cabin by sheer luck. Delirious and frantic with the reinvigorated desire to live, it used the last of its strength to knock on Clarisse's door, and mumbled a few pleas for help in its alien tongue when a startled Clarisse answered the door before collapsing into her arms, unconsciousness fimally claiming the Grey as its organs began to shut down.

While initially in complete and utter disbelief, Clarisse was overcome with pity as she took the dying alien in and placed it by the fire. She quickly noted the alien's dependency on warmth as she'd remembered a public service announcement on TV that had informed the public of the Greys weaknesses, cold being one of them.

She worked quickly to peel back its ruined (and now-frozen) suit to better warm its frigid body and realized that it was dying as she witnessed its breathing slow and felt its pulse weaken. Thinking quickly, she came to the conclusion that she'd have to use a faster method of warming the alien's body-that being soaking it in a hot bath.

After she'd placed the unconscious Grey into the steaming waters, it slowly came to as its near-frozen body began to thaw.

Upon its reawakening, it was still too exhausted to question its unexpected savior (as it did anticipate that the resident of the cabin wouldn't hesitate to kill it considering that it was a member of the race that had posed a serious threat to humanity). Furthermore, the Grey was far too weary to make any protests or struggle as it felt itself being dragged out of the tub and dried off. It was only after it felt Clarisse begin to bandage its wounds and slip one of her large sweaters over its torso that the alien felt truly obligated to say anything.

Motivated both by curiosity and a yet unrealized feeling of gratitude, the alien used its dwindling strength to ask Clarisse about her reason for saving it.

((And the response shall be covered in a future deviation. Stay posted))
